The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation’s Healthy Estuaries WA team, along with partner catchment groups, is inviting community members to estuary forum events scheduled for October and November 2024.
Jennifer Stritzke, Healthy Estuaries WA coordinator, shared that these events will feature updates on the latest scientific findings from estuary water quality and seagrass monitoring. Additionally, there will be presentations on local projects aimed at improving the health of our estuaries.
“These forums provide a unique opportunity to keep local communities informed about our work, get answers to any questions, and learn how they value and protect their local waterways,” Jennifer said.
“This year’s events are particularly exciting as we are celebrating the conclusion of our four-year program. We’re also thrilled to announce that Healthy Estuaries WA has secured funding to continue beyond 2024,” Jennifer added.
Jennifer emphasised that these free events are open to anyone who appreciates and is interested in their local waterways. “Attendees can look forward to a wide array of topics, including soil health, fertiliser management, and citizen science projects monitoring fish and crabs.”
